Himachal Pradesh defers salaries of CM, ministers, MLAs for six months 17h ago

The Himachal Pradesh government has implemented a six-month salary deferment for its Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers, and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to aid in prudent financial management. Under this directive, the Chief Minister's salary will be deferred by 50 percent, while Cabinet Ministers, the Deputy Chief Minister, Speaker, and Deputy Speaker will experience a 30 percent deferment. MLAs will have 20 percent of their salaries withheld. This measure, approved by the Governor and reflecting the state's financial condition, is a deferment, not a deduction, with the intent to release the withheld amounts later. Statutory deductions will continue to be calculated on the full salary.
