The decision by Biržai Hospital to send the entire staff of the gynecology department on annual leave simultaneously has caused anxiety and raised questions among residents. The hospital director, P. Bimba, explained to the portal tv3.lt that such a practice is normal and is implemented to ensure the rational use of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund and the hospital's financial resources. The decision was made after evaluating patient flow, as the need for planned and emergency gynecological services decreases significantly during the summer.
