During a legislative session held on Monday, July 13, 2026, the Moroccan House of Councillors approved by majority two draft laws concerning copyright and related rights, and the professional status of journalists. The first project, Bill No. 013.26, aims to amend and supplement Law No. 2.00 regarding copyright and related rights; it received 46 votes in favor and one abstention. In a presentation speech, the State Secretary for Employment, Hicham Sabri, explained that this bill comes as part of the ongoing modernization of the national copyright protection system to keep pace with digital transformations and respond to new challenges related to the exploitation of works, particularly the rise of digital piracy and the illegal broadcasting of audiovisual content.
