House Of Reps Confirms Abejide’s Defection To APC 05.05.2026

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives formally confirmed the defection of Leke Abejide, who represents the Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State, from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This announcement occurred during a plenary session led by the Speaker, which also included the departure of 17 other members from the ADC to the newly registered Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Abejide, who previously served as the ADC’s national leader, cited the party's internal leadership crisis and the reinstatement of the David Mark-led faction by the Independent National Electoral Commission as primary reasons for his exit. He stated that he left to protect his political future after accusing opposition coalitions of hijacking the party structure.
