Nigeria's anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has taken a strong stance against internal corruption by dismissing over 40 employees for alleged corruption and financial malpractice over the past three years. This disclosure was made by EFCC chairman Ola Olukoyede at a briefing in Abuja, where he assessed the agency's achievements since he took office in October 2023. Olukoyede emphasized the importance of integrity within the agency, stating, "You can't be fighting corruption when your hands are soiled with corrupt practices." As part of internal reforms, the Department of Internal Affairs was renamed the Department of Ethics and Integrity, and a policy on gifts and hospitality was introduced to combat conflicts of interest.
