Ian Borg calls for stop to Lebanon bombing by Israel 09.04.2026

Malta's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ian Borg, has called for an immediate halt to Israeli attacks in Lebanon, voicing grave concern over the escalating conflict. Borg affirmed Malta's solidarity with the Lebanese people, who have suffered immensely from the violence. These calls come in the wake of Israeli strikes on Wednesday that resulted in over 250 fatalities and more than 1,000 injuries in a single day, described by Israel as its "biggest strike" in Lebanon since its ground operation began. The situation has been further complicated by Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz and threats of retaliation, with Iranian officials asserting that the US must choose between a ceasefire or continued conflict via Israel.
