ICE head says agents facing 'constant impediments' after migrant seen ramming cars while trying to flee 14.01.2026

Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons stated on Tuesday that federal immigration agents are encountering "constant impediments" and "constant attacks," citing an incident in San Antonio where a suspected illegal migrant rammed vehicles to evade arrest. Lyons suggested that rhetoric from Democrats criticizing ICE contributes to such events, asserting that elected officials calling for obstruction of ICE operations lead to these confrontations. He highlighted that agents are facing daily dangers, with one hospitalized for neck injuries after their vehicle was struck. Lyons also alleged that "criminal gangs" are organizing groups to impede immigration enforcement, which he described as a criminal act that will be investigated. He further addressed Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner's vow to prosecute ICE agents for unlawful acts, arguing that ICE personnel are not committing crimes and are making cities safer by enforcing the law, contrasting this with the dangers posed by sanctuary policies.
