‘If it’s from the PM, I will act on it’: Ex-finance minister Tengku Zafrul says in Muhyiddin’s trial 07.07.2026

Former Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz testified in the power abuse and money laundering trial of former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on July 7. Zafrul clarified that while he held the discretion to decide on government project applications, he would ensure any proposals forwarded by the Prime Minister or the Prime Minister's Office were considered. The testimony focused on the Jana Wibawa program, specifically regarding lists of 54 contractors and various infrastructure projects in Selangor. Zafrul testified that Muhyiddin’s handwritten "minutes" were intended to bring matters to his attention rather than mandate specific outcomes. He denied that the lists indicated preferential treatment or interference by the PMO. Furthermore, Zafrul confirmed that Muhyiddin never requested the cancellation of procurement processes for specific companies like KCJ Engineering, Sutracom, or Nepturis.
