Ifo-Geschäftsklimaindex: Deutsche Wirtschaft blickt etwas positiver in die Zukunft 23.02.2026

The business climate in German companies is showing signs of improvement, with the ifo Institute's Business Climate Index rising to 88.6 points in February, up from 87.6 in January. This uptick, observed by approximately 9,000 executives, suggests a moderate economic recovery, though uncertainties persist due to US trade policies. Despite ongoing economic challenges, Germany has maintained its position as the world's third-largest economy, with its GDP totaling $5.052 trillion in the past year, surpassing Japan. However, the Institute of the German Economy (IW) forecasts that both Germany and Japan will fall behind the more dynamic growth of the US and China, particularly in high-tech sectors, though Germany is expected to retain its third-place ranking this year, supported by government investments.
