Belgian prisoner Marc Dutroux has been charged with possession of child pornography after 200 images, half depicting naked children, were discovered in his cell at Nivelles prison in 2024. The Brabant Walloon public prosecutor's office has requested that the notorious pedophile be sent to trial for this offense, which carries a maximum sentence of ten years imprisonment. Dutroux denies the charges, claiming the images were placed on his bed by others as harassment, a defense authorities reportedly find unconvincing. The images are currently undergoing examination to finalize the referral to the correctional court.
