The Prosecutor General of the Slovak Republic, Maroš Žilinka, highlighted an alarming decline in the effectiveness of the fight against tax fraud on social media. According to statistics from the General Prosecutor's Office, only 12 people were prosecuted and 10 were indicted for the crime of tax fraud during the first six months of 2026. According to Žilinka, this negative trend is confirmed by a previous decline, with 49 percent fewer people prosecuted and 57 percent fewer indicted in 2025 compared to 2024.
