A couple from Isère, vacationing in Chamonix, became stranded at the Mer de Glace cable car station at an altitude of 1,700 meters for 48 hours after missing the last train. Their intended brief stop, prompted by one of them feeling unwell, turned into an ordeal when they realized the final train had departed at 5 PM. The situation worsened due to significant snowfall and avalanche risk, which halted all train and cable car operations the following day. After spending a night outdoors, they were eventually able to take refuge in a cable car station and were rescued on Tuesday, February 17th, unharmed.
