During the "America Week 2026" celebrations in Dhaka, US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen emphasized the United States' commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties and fostering mutual understanding through cultural exchange. The multi-city initiative, part of President Donald Trump’s "Freedom 250" program, commemorates the 250th anniversary of American independence. Events are being held across Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, and Rajshahi, including the "American Fair" at Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed Park in Gulshan and performances by the US Army’s 25th Infantry Division Brass Band at the Bangladesh Sangbad Bhaban. Ambassador Christensen noted that sharing American history and values is essential for building deeper connections with Bangladeshi communities. The celebrations include various signature events, such as the launch of a Founders Museum exhibit in Sylhet and various concerts, aimed at bringing a "taste of America" to the local population.
