Impeachment articles against Sara Duterte reach House plenary 05.05.2026

The House of Representatives has officially received the committee report regarding impeachment articles against Vice President Sara Duterte. Referred to the House Committee on Rules, the report outlines charges including betrayal of public trust, corruption, and an alleged assassination plot against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and Representative Martin Romualdez. House Justice Committee Chairperson Gerville Luistro expects a plenary vote by May 11, following a period for members to review the documentation. To proceed to a Senate impeachment trial, the House requires at least 106 affirmative votes from its 318 members. Despite rumors of shifting alliances, committee leadership maintains that support for the impeachment remains firm as the chamber prepares for the upcoming legislative proceedings.
