„In 23 Jahren noch nie erlebt“: Unwetter verwüstet Region – Dorf muss evakuiert werden 21.02.2026

Severe weather has devastated regions in France, leading to evacuations and significant damage. The village of Cheffes in Maine-et-Loire was evacuated on Friday, February 20th, due to rising waters from the Sarthe River, a situation described by a resident as unprecedented in 23 years. France has experienced its longest period of consecutive rainfall since 1959, with 37 days of rain. While the highest alert level was lifted for Gironde, red warnings remain for Loire-Atlantique, Charente-Maritime, and Maine-et-Loire. Storm "Pedro" brought winds up to 109 km/h to Biscarosse, leaving the resort town resembling a ghost town. Three fatalities have been reported, with one person missing in Chalonnes-sur-Loire.
