In anderen Ländern normal: Was deutsche Schulen sich beim Mathe-Unterricht abschauen sollten 22.02.2026

A German teacher and education journalist, Alexander Brand, has identified key areas where German schools can improve by observing top-performing PISA nations like Singapore, Japan, Korea, and Estonia. Brand's research, detailed in his upcoming book "Die Bildungsweltmeister," highlights that while Germany ranked 22nd out of 81 countries in PISA 2022, these leading nations excel due to a focus on continuous teacher professional development, collaborative lesson planning, and cognitively activating teaching methods that encourage complex problem-solving. Singapore offers teachers 100 hours of annual training, integrating it into the school day, while Estonia provides a supportive environment where school is a "second living space" for students, featuring weekly student consultations. Brand advocates for Germany to adopt these strategies, particularly by delaying student tracking and fostering collaborative learning environments to enhance educational quality and equity.
