An Indian court has sentenced a couple to death for the sexual assault of 33 boys, some as young as three, and for selling videos of these crimes on the dark web. The National Investigation Agency (CBI) reported that the crimes, which occurred between 2010 and 2020 primarily in northern India, involved victims who sustained severe genital injuries requiring hospitalization. The couple lured their victims by offering online video games, money, and gifts, and then recorded the abuse to sell to clients in 47 countries. The special tribunal also ordered the Uttar Pradesh state government to pay one million rupees (approximately 9,351 euros) in compensation to each victim. The sentence is subject to appeal.
