Indian expat murdered after 'TikTok war' in Sharjah; suspects held 03.06.2026

An Indian expatriate, 40-year-old Ismail Ponnan Ibrahim Kutty from Kerala, was fatally stabbed and clubbed in broad daylight on a Sharjah street on May 31, following an online dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation. Kutty, who worked at a Dubai bakery and was active on TikTok, reportedly engaged in a verbal altercation with other TikTok users on the platform. This online war allegedly led to a challenge to meet in person near a park in Al Nahda, Sharjah. Upon meeting, Kutty was confronted and attacked by a group, sustaining injuries from sharp objects. He was transported to Al Qassimi Hospital but died shortly after, with the cause of death attributed to severe hemorrhage. Sharjah Police have confirmed the incident and announced the arrest of several suspects, with ongoing investigations.
