Indian film union drops boycott call against Bollywood star Ranveer Singh 04.06.2026

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), a prominent Indian film workers' union, has rescinded its informal ban on Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, which was issued last month. The ban followed a complaint from producers of "Don 3" alleging Singh’s abrupt exit from the film weeks before filming was scheduled to commence, after significant pre-production expenses totaling approximately 450 million rupees ($4.7 million). FWICE's decision to withdraw the boycott came after Singh reportedly sent a legal notice to the federation. The union’s leadership stated their legal team would respond to the notice and expressed hope for a positive resolution, with the chief adviser urging Singh to engage in dialogue to resolve the dispute. This action is notable given Singh's status as a major Indian film star.
