Infant Among Four Dead As Train Derails In Delta — Transport Ministry 09.06.2026

A train derailment in Agbor, Delta State, on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including two adult females, one adult male, and an infant. The Federal Ministry of Transportation reported that the train was carrying 482 people in total, comprising 442 passengers and 40 crew members, security personnel, and service providers. Preliminary findings indicate that four coaches capsized and one derailed. Rescue and evacuation efforts concluded by 6:30 pm, with injured individuals transported to local medical facilities. Among the injured are 24 individuals with serious injuries and one NRC staff member with a traumatic limb injury. A full investigation into the cause of the accident has been initiated.
