Inondations, crues : les premiers dossiers des communes à indemniser étudiées par le gouvernement mardi19 févr. 19.02.2026

The French government is accelerating efforts to provide aid to communities devastated by widespread flooding, particularly in the western regions. An interministerial commission for natural disasters will convene on Tuesday, March 3rd, and subsequent meetings will be scheduled rapidly to process all affected municipal dossiers. This commission, meeting two weeks ahead of schedule, will examine initial claims from towns along rivers like the Charente, Dordogne, Garonne, Gironde, Loire, and Maine. Economy Minister Roland Lescure will also meet with insurers on Friday to expedite claims for affected residents. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has pledged total mobilization and swift compensation, emphasizing the government's commitment to supporting those impacted by the exceptional and ongoing flood events, which have been exacerbated by 35 consecutive days of rain, the longest period since 1959.
