Insurer refuses to pay Intents after flooding: 1.5 million in damages 07.07.2026

Intents Festival from Oisterwijk has launched a legal battle against five insurers, including Nationale Nederlanden, to claim 1.5 million euros in compensation. The damage occurred during the edition from May 31 to June 2, 2024, when heavy rainfall rendered part of the campsite unusable. This led to the cancellation of thousands of camping tickets and lost revenue from food and beverages. The insurers refuse to pay, arguing that the rainfall did not constitute 'extreme weather' but was instead the result of persistent rain since late 2023. The court in Rotterdam must now rule on the interpretation of the policy terms. A final verdict in this complex case is expected on August 19.
