Intempéries : La décrue s’amorce dans l’Ouest, une rentrée scolaire quasi « normale » en vue 23.02.2026

Following over a week of exceptional floods across western France, water levels are slowly receding, allowing for a nearly normal school reopening after the winter break. Loire-Atlantique, Charente-Maritime, and Maine-et-Loire remain on red alert, though a slow decline has begun in Maine-et-Loire. Sarthe, Vendée, and Charente are on orange alert. In Angers, the Maine River, which peaked at 6.39 meters, has started to recede. The Garonne and Charente rivers in Nouvelle-Aquitaine are also experiencing generalized or stabilized descents, leading authorities to anticipate a smooth return to classes. Despite some school transfers and the use of 4x4 vehicles for student transport in affected areas like Saintes and Courcoury, most schools are prepared for Monday, with minor damages being repaired and water supply issues addressed in Sainte-Croix-du-Mont.
