Interpol seizes €13.1m of fake medicines in global operation 07.05.2026

Interpol, in a global operation spanning 90 countries, has seized 6.42 million doses of counterfeit and unapproved medicines valued at €13.1 million ($15.5 million). The confiscated items included a wide range of pharmaceuticals such as erectile dysfunction medications, sedatives, analgesics, antibiotics, and anti-smoking products. The operation also identified over 5,000 websites and social media platforms involved in the illicit trade. Interpol highlighted a significant rise in fake antiparasitic drugs, often mislabeled as health supplements and promoted as unproven cancer treatments. Demand for "lifestyle drugs," including anabolic steroids and counterfeit weight-loss medications containing banned substances like sibutramine, also continues to grow, with production traced to various global regions.
