Investment In New MRI Scanner At St Vincent de Paul Hospital 09.04.2026

St Vincent de Paul Hospital has inaugurated a new 1.5T MRI scanner, representing a €1.8 million investment co-financed by European funds. This advanced equipment will enhance diagnostic precision and treatment effectiveness for patients, with the service commencing next week. The investment also includes the hiring of four new radiographers and is part of a broader €5 million capital investment in the hospital's Diagnostic Imaging Unit, which already features modern equipment like CT scanners and ultrasound units. This initiative aims to reduce pressure on Mater Dei Hospital and shorten waiting times, with approximately 5,000 individuals expected to benefit in the first year. The expansion aligns with the government's commitment to modernizing healthcare services for Maltese and Gozitan citizens, particularly older persons.
