The February 28th strike, occurring on the first day of the Middle East war, claimed at least 170 lives, including students and teachers. Iran's foreign minister blamed the US for a "calculated, phased assault," while a preliminary US military investigation suggests a Tomahawk cruise missile strike due to a targeting error, hitting the school which was formerly part of an adjacent Iranian base. The team ultimately lost the match 2-1.
