Iran may have ‘directed’ recent attacks in Canada, intelligence report says 5,798 Read 03.07.2026

A secret Canadian government report obtained by Global News suggests Iran's intelligence services may be directing criminal networks to carry out attacks in Canada, potentially targeting Jewish and other communities. The Integrated Threat Assessment Centre (ITAC) report from April 2 indicates it's a "realistic possibility" that Iran is enabling such proxy actors, a scenario distinct from the primary threat of self-directed lone actors. While Canadian authorities have not publicly linked these incidents to Iran, the report aligns with allegations by U.S. prosecutors connecting a pro-Iran militia to attacks in Europe and potentially Toronto, where a police officer was killed investigating shootings linked to a criminal network hired via encrypted messaging.
