Iran restores some gas production at South Pars facility 31.05.2026

Iran has resumed gas production from three offshore platforms at the South Pars gasfield, which was targeted by Israeli attacks in March and early April. Touraj Dehqani, head of Pars Oil and Gas Company, stated on Sunday that the platforms themselves sustained no damage, with production now being rerouted to other facilities while repairs are underway. This development is considered significant both symbolically and practically for Iran, as South Pars is a crucial energy facility. The gasfield, located off the coast of Bushehr province, is the country's largest domestic energy source and is shared with Qatar. The resumption of production comes amid ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran, with Iran insisting on securing its full rights.
