Iran war strengthening UAE-Israel ties: Israeli official to AFP 02.06.2026

Israel and the United Arab Emirates are strengthening their ties in the wake of a Middle East war that erupted on February 28, following US and Israeli attacks on Iran and subsequent Iranian retaliations against Gulf countries. An Israeli official told AFP that the UAE has adopted a hawkish stance against Iran, viewing it as an arch-enemy, and Israel has proven itself a "true friend" through its support. This closer relationship is seen as demonstrating the strength of the Abraham Accords, brokered by the US in 2020, with plans for two Israeli delegations to visit the UAE next week to discuss areas like a crucial India-Europe trade corridor. The UAE has suffered economic setbacks from the conflict, including slumping tourism and reduced energy exports, but insists on a comprehensive solution to Iran's actions.
