Iran’s football team shows World Cup readiness with social media posts 05.05.2026

Iran’s national football team, known as Team Melli, is actively preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with recent social media posts showcasing the squad’s new kit and training sessions. Despite geopolitical tensions following a conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel, FIFA President Gianni Infantino and former President Donald Trump have confirmed Iran’s participation in the tournament hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The team is currently training in Iran before departing for Turkiye for three friendly matches. Iran is scheduled to begin their campaign against New Zealand on June 15 in Los Angeles. However, the squad faces a significant setback after winger Ali Gholizadeh suffered a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for his club, Lech Poznan.
