Iran's IRGC says targeted US destroyer in Gulf of Oman, denies striking Kuwait Int'l Airport 04.06.2026

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday that its navy targeted a U.S. destroyer in the Gulf of Oman, citing aggressive actions and violations near the Strait of Hormuz, though U.S. Central Command denied any such incident occurred. Simultaneously, the IRGC refuted claims of striking Kuwait International Airport, attributing damage to a faulty U.S. Patriot missile system, despite Kuwaiti reports of Iranian-attributed missile and drone attacks that killed one and injured many. The IRGC did, however, confirm launching missile and drone assaults on U.S. bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. These events unfold amid heightened tensions, with Iran restricting passage through the Strait of Hormuz for Israeli and U.S. vessels and the U.S. imposing a naval blockade, even as both nations reportedly engage in mediation efforts for peace.
