“Irresponsibility, electoralism, and ingratitude”: Mamoudou Ibra Kane’s vitriolic indictment against the government 07.07.2026

In a publication titled “Irresponsibility, electoralism, and ingratitude,” Mamoudou Ibra Kane, founding president of the “Demain c’est maintenant” movement, has sharply criticized the regime of Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko. He denounces land management practices, which he holds responsible for difficulties in the construction sector, and calls on aggrieved businesses and individuals to sue the State. He also criticizes the treatment of the Senegal Lions following their elimination in the World Cup round of 16, labeling the attitude as ingratitude. According to him, Senegal is “held hostage by political maneuvering at the top of the State and the amateurism of certain leaders,” while the country faces economic and social emergencies. He believes that the lifting of land restrictions, after more than two years of deadlock, is too late and has already caused job losses and a crippled economy.
