Is the promised invasion here? Chinese cars are starting to thrive in Czechia, but they still lag behind 07.07.2026

According to statistics from the Association of Automobile Importers, the Czech market grew by 5.9 percent in the first half of this year to 129,810 registrations. Škoda Auto maintained its undisputed first place with a 14 percent increase, while Volkswagen significantly influenced the market with an 18.5 percent growth. Chinese brands recorded significant growth, particularly the duo Omoda and Jaecoo, which reached 2,825 registrations, representing exponential growth compared to last year. Conversely, the MG brand recorded a decline of one-third. Electric vehicle sales reached a record of 8,630 units, representing 6.7 percent of the market, driven primarily by the Škoda Enyaq and Elroq models. The market is still dominated by gasoline cars (65.5%), while the share of imported used cars grew by 10.4 percent. Among the most popular models, the Škoda Octavia dominates, while the Hyundai Tucson became the best-selling foreign model.
