Israeli prosecutors on July 6 charged Jewish settler Yinon Levi with reckless manslaughter for the 2025 killing of Palestinian community leader Owdeh Hathaleen in the West Bank. This marks the first such indictment in more than seven years, occurring against a backdrop of escalating settler violence in the occupied territory. The charges also include armed trespassing and malicious property damage stemming from a July 2025 incident where settlers used a large excavator in the Palestinian village of Umm al-Khair, sparking a confrontation.
