Israel orders military to seize new positions in Lebanon 03.03.2026

On Tuesday, March 3, Israel ordered its military to seize additional strategic positions in Lebanon, a move authorized by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz to prevent attacks on Israeli border communities. This escalation follows Hezbollah's attacks on Israeli bases, which the group stated were in retaliation for the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during US-Israeli strikes. In response to Israel's "escalation," the Lebanese army redeployed soldiers from several border positions due to safety concerns. Israel also announced the killing of two senior Hezbollah militants, Hussein Moukalled and Reza Khazai, in Beirut. While Israel denies plans for a full-scale invasion, it has stated "all options are on the table" to stop rocket fire, describing the current actions as "tactical measures."
