Israel says established a ‘yellow line’ in Lebanon, as it has in Gaza 18.04.2026

Israel has announced the establishment of a "yellow line" in southern Lebanon, mirroring a tactic previously employed in Gaza, which divides the territory and restricts movement near Israeli forces. This development follows a 10-day ceasefire that began on Thursday, though Israeli artillery attacks and home demolitions in southern Lebanese towns like Beit Leif, Qantara, and Touline have persisted. The Israeli military asserts these actions are in self-defense against fighters approaching its positions, claiming they pose an "imminent threat" and are not restricted by the ceasefire. Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem stated the truce requires mutual adherence and demanded Israel’s complete withdrawal, while also emphasizing the need for prisoner release, return of displaced residents, and reconstruction, with potential negotiations with the Lebanese government in Washington.
