Israel's war in Lebanon has become a flashpoint for the Iran ceasefire 09.04.2026

Lebanon has become a contentious point in President Trump's efforts to secure a ceasefire with Iran, with significant disagreements arising between the U.S., Israel, Iran, and Pakistan regarding the inclusion of hostilities in Lebanon. Iran and Pakistan, who brokered the deal, assert that Lebanon is an integral part of the two-week ceasefire, citing explicit agreements and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh calling Israeli strikes in Lebanon on Wednesday a "grave violation." Conversely, the White House and Israel maintain that Lebanon was never part of the ceasefire, with President Trump describing Israeli actions there as a "separate skirmish." Israel's military reported striking 100 Hezbollah targets on Wednesday, resulting in at least 203 reported deaths in Lebanon, while Israel's defense minister stated "200 terrorists" were killed. Prime Minister Netanyahu announced plans for direct negotiations with Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah and establish peaceful relations, emphasizing that Israel insisted on excluding Hezbollah from the ceasefire.
