Ituri: 17 new Ebola cases confirmed in Niania 07.07.2026

In Ituri, within the Mambasa territory, seventeen new cases of Ebola virus disease have been officially confirmed in the Niania health zone. The announcement was made on Monday, July 6, by the head physician of the entity, Joseph Pemanakue. These cases were detected following the analysis of twenty samples collected from patients since June 20. A two-week delay in transporting the samples to the Bunia laboratory, caused by a lack of transportation means, has worsened the epidemiological situation. The region is particularly vulnerable due to the scale of mining activities. Dr. Pemanakue urges the population to strictly adhere to barrier measures and to seek medical consultation immediately if symptoms appear. Health authorities are maintaining increased surveillance to curb the spread of the virus.
