Janevski: How we allowed some like Zaev and Dimitrov to rule us for seven years and turn Sofia's stance into Brussels' stance 03.07.2026

Darko Janevski, Director of MIA, stated in an interview for 'Proveritas' that Bulgaria's stances toward North Macedonia are cemented and that there is no difference between the previous and the new government, including Radev, Petkov, and Borisov. He believes that the Bulgarian elite imposes themes regarding North Macedonia to cover up domestic problems, even though the views of ordinary citizens are not much different from those of the elite. Janevski criticizes North Macedonia for lacking sufficient understanding of the ordinary citizens of neighboring countries, which he identifies as a major weakness. He also spoke about Bulgarian influence and the need for rapprochement between the peoples, emphasizing that Bulgaria's main problems are the standard of living and corruption, rather than the issue with North Macedonia.
