The Japanese embassy in Manila has clarified that temporary visitor visas for Filipinos will continue to be issued free of charge, countering concerns raised by a general visa fee increase announced by the Japanese government. In a statement posted on its website and Facebook page on Thursday, the embassy emphasized that a temporary visitor visa—allowing a stay of up to 90 days—remains "gratis" for Philippine nationals. This reassurance comes after Japan's Cabinet Order on Consular Fees was amended, setting new visa fees that take effect on July 1, 2026.
