A renowned Melbourne gynecologist is facing accusations of performing unnecessary surgeries on women diagnosed with endometriosis, with some patients alleging organs were removed despite minimal or no evidence of the condition. Several women, including one named Courtney who had her ovaries and uterus removed, have come forward to ABC, expressing feelings of betrayal and shock after trusting the specialist. The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency has received multiple complaints over the past five years, and the state Premier of Victoria, Jacinta Allan, has deemed the alleged removal of organs without clinical need a crime, prompting a police investigation into the matter. The gynecologist has denied the allegations, stating he only operates when "absolutely convinced" of its benefit to patients.
