Makeisyhtiö Halvan toimitusjohtaja Jean Karavokyros toteaa, että suomalaiset tinkivät karkin syönnistä tiukentuneen taloustilanteen vuoksi, mutta yhtiön vienti vetää erinomaisesti, kattaen jo 40 prosenttia tuotannosta. Vaikka Halvan ympärillä on ollut ostajaehdokkaita vuosien ajan, pieni perheyritys pärjää maailmalla kilpailussa isompien toimijoiden kanssa. Karavokyros korostaa, että suomalaiset säästävät nyt kaikesta, mikä ei ole aiemmin ollut tyypillistä eikä vastaavaa ole nähty muissa maissa.
