JNE upholds Rafael López Aliaga's appeal, allowing him to run as a Lima council member 14.07.2026

The Plenary of the National Jury of Elections (JNE) has ruled in favor of the appeal filed by Renovación Popular, confirming that Rafael López Aliaga may run as the first council member (regidor) for the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima in the upcoming elections on October 4. This decision overturns the ruling by the Special Electoral Jury (JEE) of Lima Centro, which had declared his registration inadmissible due to his status as an elected and proclaimed senator for the 2026-2031 term. López Aliaga heads the list of council members alongside Luis Rubio, the candidate for mayor.
