Jo Malone hopes 'sense will prevail' in lawsuit over her name 09.04.2026

Perfume designer Jo Malone expressed surprise and sadness over Estée Lauder's lawsuit, which seeks over £200,000 in damages for alleged trademark infringement and breach of contract related to a collaboration between Malone's current company, Jo Loves, and retailer Zara. Estée Lauder, which acquired Malone's original brand, Jo Malone London, in 1999, claims the use of Malone's name on the packaging of the "low-cost" Zara products undermines the luxury reputation of Jo Malone London. Malone, who founded Jo Loves in 2011 after a non-compete clause expired, argues that the collaboration, launched in 2019, clearly distinguished itself from Jo Malone London and that she sold the company, not herself. She hopes for a resolution where "sense will prevail."
