Estée Lauder, which acquired Malone's original brand, Jo Malone London, in 1999, claims the use of Malone's name on the packaging of the "low-cost" Zara products undermines the luxury reputation of Jo Malone London. Malone, who founded Jo Loves in 2011 after a non-compete clause expired, argues that the collaboration, launched in 2019, clearly distinguished itself from Jo Malone London and that she sold the company, not herself. She hopes for a resolution where "sense will prevail."
