Johor police: Secret society recruitment dispute behind fatal Pekan Nanas hacking, seven to be charged with murder 04.06.2026

Johor police have identified a secret society recruitment dispute as the motive behind the fatal hacking of a 22-year-old man in Pekan Nanas, Pontian, on May 21. Seven suspects are scheduled to be charged with murder today under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read with Section 34 for common intention. These seven individuals were among ten initially detained by police in Pontian and Batu Pahat. Three previously arrested suspects have been released and will serve as prosecution witnesses on bond. During the arrests, police seized vehicles, clothing, face masks, and weapons believed to be involved in the incident. Six of the seven suspects charged have prior criminal records, and two others have records for criminal and narcotics offenses. The victim was found with stab and slash wounds.
