Ajax has immediately suspended Jong Ajax coach Willem Weijs, terminating his contract which was set to expire on July 1, 2026. Weijs had been coaching Jong Ajax since the summer and previously led Ajax 019. Technical director Jordi Cruijff stated that the decision, though difficult given his recent start, was necessary to bring a "refreshment" to Jong Ajax. Cruijff emphasized the importance of Jong Ajax for developing talent and expressed a desire for an experienced coach with a winning mentality and experience in diverse football cultures. Ajax anticipates appointing a successor for Weijs shortly.
