Jongen (14) krijgt jeugddetentie voor plaatsen explosief bij De Pizzabakkers 19.03.2026

A 14-year-old boy has been sentenced to 180 days of youth detention, with 111 days suspended, for attempting to detonate an explosive device at a De Pizzabakkers location on Plantage Kerklaan in Amsterdam on September 3rd. The improvised explosive, containing fireworks, a cobra, and gasoline, was hung on the restaurant's door. Police apprehended the teenager red-handed with a lighter. The court found him guilty of attempted detonation and arson, deeming youth detention appropriate due to the severity of the act and its deterrent effect, while also acknowledging he was not the mastermind and felt pressured. The court also imposed a one-year behavioral measure requiring him to seek schooling, day activities, and treatment for his issues, emphasizing the danger and fear caused to residents and victims. Three other suspects are still under investigation.
