Judge allows Trump to end deportation protections for 5,000 more immigrants 18.08.2026

A federal judge in Boston has cleared the way for the Trump administration to end deportation protections for more than 5,000 Ethiopian immigrants. U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy removed the last court injunction preventing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from terminating Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Ethiopia. This decision follows a June Supreme Court ruling that restricted judges' authority to block DHS efforts to revoke TPS for 13 nations, including Haiti and Syria. The Supreme Court's 6-3 conservative majority decision limited judicial oversight of the administration's immigration policies.
