Federal authorities have charged over two dozen individuals in a drug operation targeting an "open-air drug market" at Los Angeles' MacArthur Park. The U.S. Attorney's office announced on Wednesday that 25 arrest warrants and eight search warrants, including six for businesses near the park, were executed. As of Wednesday, 18 defendants have been arrested for federal drug trafficking, with two allegedly being primary suppliers of fentanyl and methamphetamine for the 18th Street Gang, which previously controlled the park as a drug marketplace. The investigation, involving over 300 law enforcement personnel, comes after the gang's leadership was arrested in March. Allegations include over two dozen fentanyl and meth deals in the park between March 9 and April 15, with approximately 40 pounds of fentanyl seized from one defendant's home.
