Eesti kaitseminister Hanno Pevkur lükkas ümber levivad kuuldused, nagu kavatsetaks Narvasse paigutada 1000 lisasõdurit. Ta kinnitas, et sellist arvu ei ole kunagi planeeritud ega arutatud ning ei tea, kust selline arv alguse on saanud. Minister rõhutas, et kaitseväe struktuuris ega kaitsmisplaanides ei ole muutusi, mis tooksid kaasa nii suurt kontingenti Narvasse. Tema sõnul on igasugune suure hulga sõdurite planeerimatu liigutamine keeruline ja selleks peavad olema väga selged põhjused. Pevkur lubas, et kui peaks toimuma mingeid muudatusi vägede paiknemises, siis teavitab kaitseministeerium sellest avalikkust.
